World Military Spending

In 2006 the world's military spending topped $1204 billion in current dollars; This represents a 3.5 per cent increase in real terms since 2005 and a 37 per cent increase over the 10-year period since 1997.

Why? Why are we allowing this madness to continue? Just for one moment imagine what a difference $1204 billion dollars could make to this planet if we spent the money on healthcare, investment in new clean energy technology, food and help for the poorest people of this planet.

What have we become? Have we really lost all sense of what it is to be human? Have we lost the ability to care not only for this planet but for it's population?.
